Blade-system comparison
A5 vs Wahl 5-in-1 Blades
A5 detachable and Wahl 5-in-1 are different physical mounts. Matching blade numbers do not make them interchangeable, and their guide-comb families should remain separate.
Quick comparison
| Feature | A5-style detachable | Wahl 5-in-1 |
|---|---|---|
| Blade design | Complete full-size blades snap on and off. | One smaller adjustable blade provides five close settings. |
| Popular models | Wahl KM10/KM Cordless, Andis AGC2/Pulse ZR II, Oster Turbo A5/A6, Heiniger Opal. | Wahl Bravura, Arco, Chromado, Creativa, Figura. |
| Cross-brand path | Many verified Wahl, Andis, and Oster professional models share this mount family. | Buy blades specifically described for Wahl 5-in-1 models. |
| Guide combs | Use an A5 detachable comb family over the base blade required by its instructions. | Use Wahl 5-in-1-compatible combs, commonly the Wahl 3379 path. |
| Common mistake | Buying a 5-in-1 blade because the size number looks familiar. | Buying a full-size A5 blade or A5 comb set. |
The fastest way to tell them apart
Do not start with the blade number. Search the exact clipper model, confirm its mount family, and only then choose cutting length. A #30 A5 blade and the #30 setting on a 5-in-1 blade describe a cutting result; they are not the same piece of hardware.
