Why I Started This Website
When I first adopted Luna in 2022, I was completely overwhelmed by the sheer number of pet products on the market. Which dog bed actually lasts? Is this premium cat food worth the price? What do vets really recommend versus what is just marketing?
I spent countless hours researching, testing products, and consulting with veterinarians. I made mistakes so you do not have to. I spent over $2,000 on products that did not work, so you can learn from my experience and make informed decisions.
What started as a personal spreadsheet of product reviews turned into HappyPetJourney—a resource I wish I had when I first became a pet parent.
My Testing Philosophy
Every product on this website falls into one of these categories:
- Personally Tested (Majority): I bought it with my own money and used it with my pets for at least 3 months

- Long-term Review: I used it for at least 3-6 months before recommending

My promise: I never recommend a product I would not use with Luna or Max. Period.

My Pets
Luna — Maine Coon, 4 years old, 14 lbs of pure attitude.
- Loves: Tall scratching posts, interactive puzzle feeders, window watching, and expensive water bowls (but drinks from the sink anyway)
- Hates: Car rides, vet visits, being ignored, and closed doors
- Health journey: Destroyed 3 sofas before I found the right scratching solutions. Now uses the PetFusion cat tree daily.
Max — Rescue Mix (likely German Shepherd + Labrador), 6 years old, 75 lbs of love and anxiety.
- Loves:Swimming in lakes, car rides (now that we have the right harness), freeze-dried chicken treats, and his PetFusion orthopedic bed
- Hates: Thunderstorms, being left alone, the vacuum cleaner, and having his paws touched (working on it)
- Health journey: Had severe separation anxiety when adopted. Now a seasoned road-trip companion thanks to calming treats, proper training, and the right gear. Teaches me patience every single day.

While I am not a veterinarian, I bring a unique perspective to pet product reviews:
- 5+ years of intensive pet parenting experience with multiple animals
- 200+ products personally tested and reviewed since 2022
- Ongoing education through veterinary consultations, certified animal behaviorist courses, and pet nutrition research
- Rescue advocacy — I foster dogs periodically and donate a portion of affiliate earnings to local animal rescues
